Quitting smoking can be one of the most difficult things to do. The main reason for this is due to nicotine addiction of the body. However, even without using any aids or drugs it is possible to quit smoking naturally.

There are several tips that you can use to combat the withdrawal symptoms and to overcome the craving for cigarette smoking

1)      The first thing that you must do is to be positive about quitting smoking.  You must be prepared to keep thinking positive even if you have problems along the way

2)      Focus on your goal of quitting smoking.  Set dates for yourself as milestones, but do not feel depressed if you can not attain those goals. Simply try again

3)      Try to write down a list of personalized reasons as to why you should quit smoking.  List all the reasons including health reasons, psychological reasons and even monetary reasons. (For example, with the money you spend for smoking for 1 month, you can buy something that you like instead)

4)      Try to drink lots of water every day, as this will help you to purify your body by removing the toxins from your body

5)      Try to take long walks in the woods or in the natural parks.  The oxygen will help to cleanse your circulatory and pulmonary system.  Hence your body can repair itself and adapt itself to non smoking

6)      When you get a craving for cigarettes, try to reduce the craving in your mouth by drinking juice or by chewing gum.  This is due to the fact that most cravings are also caused by mouth addictions

7)      Make sure that you do not leave any cigarettes or lighters in the vicinity.

8)      Try to exercise, do meditation or do yoga

9)      Make sure that you get emotional support from your friends, family and co workers

10)   Celebrate your accomplishments and milestones such as the first day of non smoking, the first week, the first month etc. to motivate your self.
