If you are a heavy smoker who is trying to quit, you may be asking yourself what is the best way to quit smoking.  You might have tried over and over again to quit smoking to no avail.  However, it can be said clearly that there is no single best way to quit smoking, as quitting is a personal event for every one. This is mainly due to the fact that everyone’s body and mind reacts differently to nicotine addiction.

For example, for some people, the best way to quit smoking can be “Cold Turkey”.  In this method, you stop smoking cigarettes suddenly and you don’t decrease it gradually.

Although, the first 72 hours can be very difficult with this method (due to withdrawal symptoms); you will feel much better and much healthier as the days pass by.  Unfortunately, this is a difficult method for most people, as most people can not withstand the withdrawal symptoms and they will start smoking again.

Another suitable method that may be the best method for you can be to gradually decrease the amount of cigarettes that you smoke every day.

This allows you to adjust your body to smaller amounts of nicotine each day, so that gradually you can win over your craving for nicotine and cigarettes.  However, then again this method may not be suitable for everyone as smoking everyday can stop you from quitting completely as you can take that final step to become a non smoker.

As you can see, there is no single best way to quit smoking. The concept of quitting smoking changes from day to day as everyone’s body and mind reacts differently to quitting methods.

However, it is best that you get advice from your personal physician and also no matter which method that you use, you should make sure to get the emotional support of your loved ones, friends and colleagues.
