Quitting smoking can be one of the hardest things that you can do.  However, as difficult as it may be, it is essential for you to stop smoking as soon as possible for your over all health.

Thus you should use one of the available methods to quit smoking as soon as possible. But when you do quit smoking several positive and several negative things will happen.

If we talk about the negative things, then the first thing that must be said is the withdrawal symptoms caused by nicotine addiction.  These withdrawal symptoms may include anxiety, depression, irritability, aggressiveness, nervousness, insomnia and most commonly weight gain.

Although these side effects will make you uncomfortable, most will disappear in 1 to 4 weeks.  Especially after the first 72 hours, most nicotine withdrawal symptoms will disappear completely.

Of course, there are also positive effects that happen to you when you quit smoking. Perhaps the first effect that you will feel will be the refreshed taste in your mouth.  Immediately the taste buds in your mouth will open more and your breath will feel more refreshed.

Your blood will start to filter the carbon monoxide immediately in the first 12 hours after the smoker quits smoking.  Hence the nicotine and the tar that is present in your system will begin to be flushed out of your body along with the other toxins.

Possibly the most beneficial thing that happens to your body will be the restoration of your lungs.  Some recent research clearly shows that smokers have more than 10 times the chance of contracting lung cancer or throat cancer compared to non smokers.

Hence as soon as you quit smoking, your lungs will feel better and they will start to repair the damage caused by years of smoking. In addition, the tar and the nicotine present on the arterial walls will begin to decrease and thus your blood pressure will return to normal. Since your blood will be oxygenated, you will feel more energetic and refreshed.
